For my Inquiry project, I have chosen to learn about how I can bring mindfulness into my classroom when I become a teacher. I believe this will be a valuable topic to research, as I will gain knowledge and further understanding of ways I can implement mindfulness in my classroom in order to benefit students learning and create an environment where they feel grounded, confident and safe overall. That being said, each week I will post a different strategy or idea I’ve discovered of ways I can incorporate mindfulness into the classroom. I will also share different resources I discover including websites, articles, and books that have a main focus on mindfulness.
My own description of mindfulness: Mindfulness is the practise of thinking of the world within and around us through reflection in a particular moment in time. You are not focussing on the past or the present you are focussing on the moment you are currently living in and using your senses to create a space that is free of stress that eliminates the feeling of being overwhelmed from the non-stop busy world we live in almost everyday.
This is what come to my mind when I think of the word Mindfulness:
-Living in the moment
-Not thinking of the past or the future
-Meditation
-Taking a moment for yourself
-Taking a step back from the busy world we live in
-Using your 5 senses to focus on the moment you are living in
