Microscopes and Connecting with Nature
In this reflection post I included the following pictures from this particular science lesson because I found it very engaging and I loved the connection it had to nature and being outside. Since outdoor learning is becoming so encouraged I enjoy learning about ways students can learn outside.

During class we had the opportunity to use microscopes and look closer at different outdoor objects such as sticks, pinecones, wood etc. I’m glad I learned that you can borrow them from the resource centre as students would have so much fun with this. I was thinking it would also be fun to make this an outdoor lesson. Students could go outside with their microscopes to look at various objects and maybe even draw pictures of them or do a scavenger hunt.

For the activity, we were asked to draw a picture of what the object looked like on the microscope.

When we were finished the drawing, everyone put their drawing on the table and we tried to math the objects to the correct drawing! It was quite tricky actually!

I enjoyed the outdoor learning lesson we did which was doing an outdoor bingo game. Partners were given bingo sheets with different letters of the alphabet and asked to find natural objects that started with the first letter of the letters on the bingo sheet. This was a very engaging activity that I would like to try out with my students!
