I have been interested to see if I can find some ways mindfulness can play a role in time management and so in this blogpost I would like to discuss what I found. I think time management is something that is difficult for everyone, and I’m not if it’s ever something that can be mastered. However, I think mindfulness has a huge role in time management, because balance is something that plays a role in mindfulness, and I believe being able to balance your time is what time management is. Below I have put some resources and strategies for ways you can use mindfulness to balance your time.
1. The first website I found is called Mindfulnessstudies.com and in this website I found an article called “Time Management and Mindfulness” by Cynthia Price. There were a variety of mindful time management strategies in this article that I think could be useful, however there was one that stood out to me that I think I would be the most likely to use, and I will elaborate on it below.
Write a list of what you need to get done: In the article, one of the suggestions is to write your tasks down on a list, the separating them into categories of what needs to be done the soonest and what can wait. I do make to do lists, however I like the idea of putting tasks in these categories, as I think it would make it feel less like you have to get everything done all at once. I also like the idea of listing things from most-least important as well as prioritizing what needs to get done the soonest. I think this is a good strategy for both students, student teachers, and teachers as it is a way to visually see the tasks you may be stressing about, and realize it is actually manageable.

2. The second website I found is called Synctuition.com and they have an article called “5 Mindfulness Tips for Effective Time Management.” I will put my favourite suggestion they recommend below.
Avoid Interruptions by keeping your phone away or on snooze mode: I often find when I am trying to complete work I sometimes find myself getting distracted by my phone and which results in me spending more time trying to complete the project than it should. I believe this ties into mindfulness, because being aware of what where your focus is, is such an important part. I think if I put my phone or any kind of distraction some where, where I can’t see it or work in a quiet environment I would be more likely to get my work done more proficiently.

3. The third website I found is called Mindfulminutes.com and in this website I found a section called “Time Management.” What I really liked about this article was that there were a variety of links you could look at that would take you to a strategy you might like to look at the most.
Ex:

I was interested in “productivity hacks” and in the article I found 13 different strategies below I will put the one that stood out to me:
Schedule Distractions: I like the idea of putting a timer on your phone for a certain period of time such as 30 minutes to do work then take a break for a bit and come back to it for another 30 minutes. I find when I’m doing work, if I don’t take breaks and just push through it I sometimes end up overwhelming myself and end up just staring at my screen without actually completing anything. This is why I think being reminded that it’s ok to give yourself a break is so importance and I think balance also plays a role in this as well. By giving myself time away from whatever I’m working on, I can come back with a fresh mind and likely more ideas.
